TRIBUTE TO GENE

Gene Autry

Seeing as how today was the birthday of one of the old America's most iconic figures, Gene Autry, I thought I'd do a little tribute to his iconic figure and to those bygone days.   When I say "old America" I am referring to the America I grew up in and loved.  This was the America before civil unrest, needless wars, racial turmoil, gangs, endless murders and violence.  It was in my mind a much simpler time.  A time before cell phones, computers, satellite TV, video games and the 24 hour news cycle.  It is a time I would go back to in a heartbeat. (I'm always holding out the hope for time travel) 
I could go on here but, those that grew up in those times know what I'm talking about and understand.  Those that weren't could never understand in a million years.  Trust me, you just had to be there. 
I thought I'd remind everyone of those times with a look back at Gene and one of his most famous tunes.  You can easily look it up on youtube, but, here are the lyrics to get you started.

WHAT IF WE ALL BECAME OCCUPIERS?

What if Everybody Fu*ked Off ?

Imagine a scenario where all of us went out to become occupiers.  What if no one was left behind to actually work and be productive members of society.  What if all the folks who get up every morning and trudge off to work decided to just go out an protest every day?  What if no one was left to produce anything, run the schools and hospitals or put out fires.  What if all these people just went out and bummed around in the park crapping on the street and never making any contribution to society? Wouldn't that be great?  
One thing the idiots who do all this crap count on is having another portion of the population be sane, rational and hardworking, so as to take care of them, clean up their mess and actually accomplish something to move society along.  If all of us were shitheads like these occuthugs, nobody would be around to clean up their mess.  What the hell would they do then?  Nobody to take care of their sorry asses, no doctors, nurses, teachers or farmers, all just asshole protestors like them.  Wouldn't that be interesting?

HOW A VETERAN VOTES

I'm wondering how it might be possible for any Veteran, especially those who have seen combat, to vote for BO or any of his ilk?  Looking at this guy's record and what he promotes and believes in, I can't imagine that anyone who has served could cast their vote for this leftist and his policies?  I ask this sincerely, as it's been something that has rolled around in my brain in the past.  I can't imagine how, though I know there are many that probably do.  To me, it's like the chickens letting the fox decide the menu. I'm looking for some input on this as I am aware of my conservative leanings and that they might be clouding my thinking on this. 
(Yes, I realize that moderates or conservatives have sent these people into harms way in the past,  ex. Bush,  and therefore I can understand why they might not vote for Bush but what would make one vote for Obama?

RANDOM THOUGHTS 6

I will not be convinced that the economy is in such terrible shape until I turn on an NFL/NBA/NHL game on TV and see the stands empty. 
I believe that technology will eventually destroy us.  Perhaps not by a world ending explosion or man made catastrophe but rather, by destroying our initiative, drive, and ability to think on our own.
I don't have much faith in the American public education system.  
I believe we have not had a world class public education system in this country for a long time.
I believe the main cause of decline in America is the erosion of the family.
I feel that political correctness is helping to ruin our country.
I am angry that lobbyists are controlling our government and that many politicians are corrupt to some extent.
I feel like I'm participating in a country that is in decline and is willing to look the other way while it is happening.
I'm not happy with myself for being this negative but, it's hard not to be when you are paying attention.
I miss the days of blissful ignorance!

EXTREMISTS AND FACTS: MUTUALLY EXCLUSIVE ?

One thing I notice in reading around the web is that liberals make a science out of discounting facts they don't like.  It doesn't matter if the facts are supported by evidence or not.  Many times they completely ignore them or, discount their relevance, so they can avoid dealing with them. 
This is why it is impossible to have a discussion with a far left liberal.  In an intelligent argument, both sides must agree to accept facts that the other side has proven to be true.  I've noticed a pattern on many blogs that when the facts come out liberals head for the hills.   You can argue opinions forever but, facts must be accepted by both sides when having a debate or discussion.  This explains why we are not getting anywhere in our political discourse in this country. 

AMERICA'S NOT SO SECRET SECRET WEAPON

You Wanna Piece of this?

You don't hear anyone talk about it much.  It's not discussed by our politicians, or by the media or even by bloggers.  It is for some reason a subject not broached anywhere that I've seen, today or in the recent past.  We talk about China's hold over our economy, we speak of the threat from Iran, we talk about the nukes in North Korea but, we never hear about this.  We Americans have a weapon, not just a little weapon but a huge, gigantic, massively big one.  One that if we would unleash would bring all of our enemies to their knees.   What am I talking about you ask?  What could possibly be so great a weapon that we could have these rogue nations literally "eating" out of our hands. I'm talking about food or course.  Yes food, and America's ability to grow it successfully and to be the world's breadbasket. There's no question in my mind that this weapon, if used properly, would tip the scales our way in many places around the world. 
Why we don't use this weapon more to our advantage, I don't understand?  

MUSLIMS CAN'T GROW A FU^KING TOMATO BUT BOY CAN THEY RIOT

Isn't it amazing that these radical Muslims can't grow a fu*king tomato to feed themselves but,they sure can put a lot of energy into jumping around pumping their fists and shooting their guns into the air.  No time for a shower or clean clothes but, plenty of time to burn an embassy or kill foreigners.  Maybe they should eat all those bullets?  All in a day's work in the Middle East.

Take a Lesson

With all the violence in the Middle East over the past few days, I thought it might be worthwhile to take another look at a quote by Carl Sagan, that may give us some perspective.  Too bad there are so many people in the world too stupid, filled with hate, or both,  to be able to take this all in.  It's a reminder of how truly insignificant we (and our troubled planet) are in the grand scheme of things.  Life is about being able to have perspective and apply it to daily events and situations and to be able to look at the big picture and recognize our place in it all.  Sadly, religious fanaticism drives millions of people into blind hatred which we are getting a good look at, in the Middle East and North Africa. Perhaps the secret to finding heaven lies in man's ability to find peace with each other?  Maybe "god" set it up that way?  The final trumpet blows when all war and violence cease, think about it.  Wouldn't that be a hoot? We control when Heaven begins but, we can't see the forest for the trees.  Crazy thought if you think about it. 

WELL DO YA ?

I'm pretty sure faith in the government is at an all time low.  The approval rating of Congress is in single digits, the Judicial Branch Ok'd Obamacare and the Executive Branch is led by an amateur.  How did we get ourselves in this position?   Extremists have led us down a path of national self-destruction and there is no question the media is along for the ride.  What happened to the once great Fourth Estate?

SUPPORT CLINT EASTWOOD

A great opportunity to send a message to liberal Hollywood would be for Americans to go to the theater to catch Clint's newest movie, "Trouble with the Curve."  Fill the theaters to let them know we support Clint and that come November,  we will take our movie vote and turn it in to a Presidential vote.

BILL CLINTON'S A WILDCARD

It appears the DNC isn't quite sure what Bill will be saying when he speaks at the Democratic National Convention on Wednesday.  Apparently, the former president forced the issue in getting himself the job of nominating Barack Obama.  It could get quite interesting since Clinton has nothing to lose in taking a few jabs at the current administration and reminding everyone how great his was.  My guess is Bill will spend a good bit of time praising his own administration, and puffing up Hillary for the 2016 election.   It might be the only part of the DNC that I take some time to watch.
One thing is for sure, he won't be talking about cigars or interns.

DUMPING AARP

Many people (like myself until recently) automatically joined AARP because, it was just something to do when you reached the age of 50.  It seemed like there were some pretty good discounts and membership advantages and to be honest, I really never took the time to do any research.  Over the past year I began to hear some things about how liberal AARP was and how they were pushing OBAMACARE because they stand to make tons of money from selling coverage plans to seniors and others who will be forced to buy insurance.  I was finally able to put 2 and 2 together and decided that I was not going to renew my membership, which just happened to be running out in July.  
I started to look for an alternative, something a bit more in line with my beliefs and came upon an organization called AMAC (the association of mature American citizens).  This senior organization espouses the best of conservative values and beliefs.  Not to mention, they are growing and getting stronger.  The organization sent me a copy of their magazine and I must say I was impressed.  It was comprised of some very informational articles regarding the economy and the perils of Obamacare.  If you are a member of AARP and you are leaning conservative, you should consider AMAC.
