AMERICA SAYS..."DO WHAT I SAY NOT WHAT I DO"

Isn't it funny that we Americans are so busy trying to spread Democracy and Freedom around the globe yet, we ourselves have less and less of both.  How ironic that Americans are dying in wars to spread all these rights to others but, our government's actions lead us away from those very things.  Our recent Presidents have taken to scolding countries like China and Russia when they crack down on their people or drift away from their Constitutions or appear to be treating their citizens unfairly.
It is no wonder these nations give us the "one finger salute," and do what they want to do.  How in the world can we remotely even hope that they will listen to us?  Somewhere along the line we ceased to be a "role model" for democratic ideals and principles and have devolved into nothing more than a paper tiger when it comes to these sorts of things.
Many of us can remember growing up in the 50's, 60's, and 70's believing that our country was special and better than everyone else and we could take great pride in being Americans.  Sadly,  the actions of our government over the last 40 years or so have thrown that out the window.  It really makes me feel like we have truly lost something we may never get back.  WTF HAPPENED??

FREE SPEECH ....GONE WITH THE WIND

I remember reading something in junior high school about this thing called "free speech" and the first time we really talked about it in class.  Now regardless of what my teacher probably said about this freedom,  I think most of us kids left the class with the mistaken notion that this "free speech" stuff give us the right to say anything we wanted to.  I can remember many of my classmates chiding each other with the phrase, "you can't make me shut up, I have freedom of speech!   Every once in while one of us would try that line at home and boy or boy did we learn the limits of free speech....the hard way.  As years went by the reality of what free speech really meant set in and  the later years of high school taught us that free speech was not totally unlimited.  You couldn't just say anything you want to anybody you want at any place you want.  However, through much of my life I never felt that in the right situation and in the proper way, I couldn't say something or express myself openly.
Unfortunately, in the last 15 years, with the spread of the disease of "political correctness," that belief, in this "freedom of speech thing," has rapidly disappeared.
I have come to realize that it is becoming more and more difficult to freely express oneself and it has in fact, become dangerous to do so.  This wonderful right I enjoyed in years past has become a concept in a book, merely words on a page, which can be pointed to and talked about like one might speak of a Greek or Roman artifact, at the museum.  When viewing real events in 2010 America I have come to the recognition that we are just kidding ourselves into believing that any of the statements in the Bill of Rights truly exist.  All one has to do is read example after example of how our recent government has destroyed any and all meaning of those words.
The spirit of the nation is being destroyed.  Elections are being bought, politicians hold offices for decades, scandal and corruption are rampant at all levels of government, mere accusation now means guilt, the truly independent media no longer exists, and states rights are either being usurped or willing given to the federal government.  Diversity if being forced down our throats and is used a tool by those seeking to destroy us.  Ah, how I long for the days when I believed in freedom of speech!
We are truly in the midst of a national catastrophe which will destroy this country.

TORCH IS PASSED.......NOW AMERICA IS BURNING

Well finally the left has used the torch of liberty to set America afire.  I'm not sure what smells worse the actual health care law or, the method used by the  political thugs in Congress to get it passed.  I think we really need to come to grips with the fact we no longer have a working Constitution in this country.  We have a "sometimes Constitution" which can be followed when it's convenient but can also be ignored when it isn't.  Right now these morons have the upper hand in what has been a decades long plan to destroy America and it's institutions.  They have been very patiently working behind the scenes to take control of our schools, our media, Hollywood and every other key aspect of our country.  In this regard they are like the Muslims who have been working on their takeover plan for hundreds of years.  The left's plan is like watching a video frame by frame, a lot can be happening but it isn't noticeable at such a slow speed.  You have to give them credit for their patience in pulling this off.  They have the country wrapped tightly around itself to the point that if you say something " politically incorrect" you can be arrested.  If you speak out in their so called "free speech" symposiums you can be shouted down, heckled or worse, for having a different view.  If you register your disgust for something or someone who in a minority or associated with one, you can be charged with a "hate crime."  This path of destruction is lined with promises of change, massive debt and a decaying population no longer able to sustain itself without the help of a big government.  We are truly living "The Fall of the Roman Empire, America's version.  Help!!

GUY AVERAGE AND THE MARCH ON WASHINGTON

Best of all success to Guy Average who along with Jon Voight and thousands of others will be representing all of us in Washington DC on Saturday March 20th to protest the unconstitutional efforts to slam the Democrat's Healthcare program down our throats.
If you haven't done so call or visit you elected officials to urge them to vote against this corrupt bill and the method Nancy Pelosi and the Democrats are trying to use to get it passed.  Let them know that they will be defeated in November if they try to push this though.  THEY SHOULD BE DEFEATED REGARDLESS FOR TAKING IT THIS FAR.

SUICIDE BY INCUMBENT

Politicians who seem to think that a decades long career in Congress is something to brag about need to rethink that view.  Judging by the massive problems in our country including such things as; illegal immigration, increasing violence, a failed war on drugs, two long term wars and a disastrous economic situation, just to name a few, I don't think I would want anyone to know I was in government running things for the past 20, 30 or 40 years.  In fact I would be embarrassed to let anyone know that I have been in government and failing at things for so long.
My question is, "haven't guys like Kennedy, Spector,  Biden, Byrd etc., been around long enough and doing so many great things (if you believe their campaign ads) that every problem should be fixed by now?  How much more time do you need?  After 30 years of you in power Congressman, shouldn't everything be hunky dory?
In answer to my facetious question, we all know that fixing things is not their goal.  Their goal is to keep getting elected on the promise of fixing things and nothing more.  Keeping their positions, influence and power, trumps solving problems.  Look at the length of time some of these leeches have been in office, reelected over and over, yet conditions in many key areas are worse than ever.  If you went to a doctor that made you feel sicker each time you saw them, wouldn't you leave to find another doctor.  Would you go to that doctor for 30 years?  I think not!  Yet, in the case of these politicians, we keep going back to them for decades.
It amazes me how stupid we are to keep voting for these people time and again.  What is the old saying that  the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result.   Our inability to stick together to vote these career politicians out of office is destroying this country.  I guess we will get what we deserve.

THINGS DON'T LOOK SO GOOD FOR BIG BEN

Recent news regarding the behavior of Steelers QB Ben Roethlisberger's in a Georgia nightclub is not reflecting very well on him.  As more information is coming out it appears that some type of "contact" occurred and according to sources, the young lady involved had a bump on her head, which Roethlisberger supposedly told authorities was the result of a accidental fall.   As this affair plays out and the local news around Pittsburgh provides more details Ben is looking more guilty by the minute.
If true it would be just another example in the long line of pro-athletes displaying less than stellar, or even criminal behavior.  The problem with many of these folks is that they are spoiled beyond belief and develop a sense of entitlement that fuels their already bloated egos.  It's hard to get a bead on Roethlisberger because for every story saying what good things he has done, there is one that talks about the opposite.  Some say he is rude, arrogant and has on occasion, walked out on bar tabs and even that the $102 million dollar QB expects free food and drink when he goes out.  In other words he is trying to live off his celebrity.  Others point out he has given to charity and has established positive connections within the community.    As of this writing Ben has not been charged and Steeler fans everywhere are hoping that his innocence will be proven.  Sadly, regardless of how this plays out in the long run, Roethlisberger's reputation is permanently damaged since this is now the second allegation of inappropriate sexual behavior logged against him.  As a fan I am hopeful that he is innocent but as a father I am hopeful that if he is proven guilty, he will pay the appropriate price for his poor behavior.  Unfortunately, this kind of crappy behavior is all too common among celebrities.  Perhaps it is we who must bear some of the blame for this for elevating these mere mortals to a kind of god-like status when it is not deserved.  There are too many examples of these folks becoming role models for many in our society.  Toss in the many entertainers and politicians who have disgraced themselves recently and we should see a pattern of this poor  behavior that should be condemned and not accepted.  These kind of people are NOT worthy of our adoration or respect and certainly should not be anyone's role model.
