Barack Obama's 34 Month Report Card; by Rich Carroll

Mr. Hope and Change wants to create a nation humbled; humiliated, casting-aside capitalism and individual freedoms for one where we the people are government controlled. This would be a system that genuflects mediocrity, steals personal aspiration and opportunity, and punishes those who strive to succeed.

A gallon of regular gasoline the day Obama was inaugurated was $1.79 on average in the U.S. Today that priceis $3.59, a 100.6% increase. The number of food stamp recipients has risen since Obama took office from 31,983,716 to 43,200,878, a 35.1% jump. Long term unemployment soared 146.2% during the same 34 month period from 2,600,000 to 6,400,000. Staggering hope and change isn't it?

American citizens living in poverty have risen 9.5%from 39,800,000 to 43,600,000, and the number of unemployed has jumped almost 25% from 11,616,000 to 14,485,000 as of August 31, 2011. The number of unemployed blacks has risen from 12.6% at the end of George Bush's term to 15.8% today, a 25.4% increase, and finally, our national debt is up 43.2% from 10.627 trillion to 15,022 trillion.

Keep these figures in mind as we recount the number of firsts for this presidency:

First President to refuse to show a valid birth certificate.

First President to apply for college aid as a foreign student, then deny he was a foreigner.

First President to have a social security number from a state he has never lived in.

First President to preside over a cut to the credit rating of the United States.

First President to violate the WarPowers Act.

First President to be held in contempt of court for illegally obstructing oil drilling in the Gulf of Mexico.

First President to defy a Federal Judgescourt order to cease implementing the Health Care Reform Law.

First President to require all Americans to purchase a product from a third party (OBAMACARE).

First President to spend a trillion dollars on shovel-ready jobs and later admit there was no such thing as shovel-ready jobs.

Implemented the Fast & Furious program to send arms to the Drug Cartels in Mexico resulting in the death of one of our border agents.

Terminated a national repository for Nuclear waste after thirty years of study and $20 billion dollars was spent on studying where to locate it and to build it. He is obviously smarter than our best scientists.

Remember that 34 months of Obama we the people have accumulated national debt at a rate more than 27 times as fast as during the rest of our nation's entire history, as the Obama's plan their next extravagant vacation to the Indonesian Island nation of Bali.

I found this recent article from the NY Times, to be informative yet, quite disturbing. It paints a bleak picture (at least in my mind) regarding our nation's ability to EVER compete in the world economy in anything other than as a secondary fiddler.
It's not something any of us want to hear but, after reading it, I can be comfortable in my belief that, if not immediately, very soon, we will be on our deathbed as a world power.
It's even more frustrating that our inept politicians continue to ride our nation, faster and faster to the abyss. They are our Nero and we are their Rome.
I should warn you that the article is not only a long one but, it doesn't have a happy ending. What it gave me was a very clear example of the inevitable, we are facing as our culture degrades along with our economic muscle.

I've been reading quite a bit lately on the number of ways our freedoms are slowly being eroded. Some of the articles discussed various ways government agencies and the larger website are monitoring the internet, including blogs and other websites.
So I thought it might be nice to post a shout out to any monitor who might stumble onto my humble little exercise in free speech which I call, Paladin's Square. Let me assure you (other than my wits) I am unarmed and plan no physical harm to anyone nor am I plotting to overthrow the government. As long as we're having fun, here's a link to a post I came upon earlier today on a blog called Blonde Gator, so all credit to her for this handy list. It's rather amazing but, after watching some of these, Biden is starting to look like a genius by comparison.
This guy is simply amazing. If the media was doing its job the way it should, he would have been removed from office by now. What if anything is presidential about this man? I don't see it, I just don't see it. Shame on the American people for allowing themselves to be duped.

GEORGE ORWELL: AMERICA'S GREATEST VISIONARY?

Fantasy No More

Time and time again we keep seeing concrete examples to show that George Orwell's book, 1984, may have been the most visionary book ever written. I think it's about time he be recognized. A lot of comments and references are made to this book, which was taught for years as a fantasy but, has morphed into a pretty classic non-fiction story. Some might even say it could be used as a blueprint for awareness of how governments can go bad. Funny how I've been thinking this for a long time but, never really took the time to mention it anywhere until I stumbled on this article.

This pretty much seals the deal for me. If any "sane" person out there still exists that doesn't believe government and its tentacles are spreading faster than ever and further than ever, then he or she must be blind or fools or both!

TRUE FACTS, FALSE FACTS AND OPINIONS

In reading, watching and listening to news and sports on the internet, radio and television, I've seen thousands of statements people make that they pass off as their "opinion," because it's much easier to avoid being labeled a fool if you can just say, "well it's my opinion." "I'm entitled to my opinion." More often then not, statements like those appear immediately prior to, or right after a moronic notion of one kind or another, that is then covered under the blanket of, "opinion."

The one thing that most people forget about when they make these idiotic statements or take a fools position, under the guise of it just being their opinion, is the existence of something called a "false fact." What is a false fact? Why is it different than an opinion? let's take a look at an example.

If I state that, "George Washington was the first American President," I am stating a fact that can be checked and PROVEN to be True. When you check this out, you find I am correct and therefore you might consider me a pretty wise guy.

If I state that, "George Washington was the greatest American President," we find that statement to be an opinion, since it can not be proven true or false. You may think James Madison was the greatest American President, and we can discuss or argue our selections, citing evidence that backs up our opinions. But, at the end of the day, we may both end up tired from the debate but, neither having the "proof" that would make our statement of opinion, a fact.

Thirdly, and the one view that many don't consider is, whether the statement is a "false fact." For instance, if I state that George Washington was never an American President, or that George Washington was the third American President, we can both go look it up and find that I can be proven wrong and that my statement, though stated as a fact, was a false fact or a wrong fact or whatever term you prefer. In this case, you may think I'm a fool for stating such an obvious error but, I can't run and hide behind the statement that, "it was just my opinion." Therefore I'm not wrong. NO, I was wrong and I need to be held accountable for being wrong.

This is the one that gets many of the "experts" off the hook. They operate under the guise of giving us opinions, when in reality they are feeding us false information. Saying things that are blatantly false but, they attempt to portray as an opinion. They must be held accountable for this trickery. Perhaps at the voting booth? Perhaps, not getting that promotion or raise? Or perhaps, being booted out of those positions under whose guise they hide their true agendas?

IN MY OPINION, I believe it to be a good idea to be aware of these distinctions, as we are swamped with so many statements of FACTS, SUPPOSED FACTS, and OPINIONS, under the guise of TRUTHS. These are distinctions that many people are unable to make and it explains why so many can be suckered by slick talking shysters, at the carnival, the car dealership, on the news, during political campaigns, or even speaking from the White House. It is important to pause to consider the statements made to us, and to take the time to analyze whether they are stated to us as a fact, or just someone's OPINION, or perhaps even more clandestine, a false fact, floated out to control the minds of the foolish?

It's pretty evident to anyone paying attention, that much of the media in the U.S. loves to fill the airwaves with distractions of every kind. It seems the strategy to keep the mindless fools occupied with drivel works to perfection because how else would the nonsense in Washington be permitted to occur as unabated as it is? Those of us who do pay attention know that things could be worse, if it not for the (small) portion of the population that shines the light on the vermin that infest our political system.
It's frightening to think of what the next generation will be like, since so few of them are interested in much of anything that involves stewardship of the nation, it's history or it's founding principles. They are easily distracted by shiny things (electronics, video games, cell phones and other forms of technology) and are burdened by those things that require deep thought or involvement.

Well, it won't be long before our glorious nations slips deeper into the abyss of filth, perversion and speed us on to our eventual demise.
We can always hope the court does this right but, it's very much a crap shoot. Occasionally, some government involvement was meant to be beneficial to the citizenry. Not really as much as we are getting now but, once in a while, in a limited way, it can serve a purpose. I guess I really need to quit being so negative and pretend to think everything will come up roses OR, I could just continue to be realistic based on prior experiences. Either way, it's lose-lose proposition.
It will be just one more nail in the coffin. The final one would be four more years of BO.

TALK RADIO, SPORTS AND OTHER DISTRACTIONS

Listening to talk radio can be difficult at times. It's surprising how many show hosts are so full of themselves, pompous and arrogant, that it isn't even funny. I'm not only referring to national show hosts but, local ones especially. They urge people to call in and then when you do, you are cut off, talked over or made the fool, especially if you don't agree with the host's point of view.
As, I'm sitting here typing I'm getting a full taste of this, as I have the radio on our local sports talk station.
Tonight is a tough one Pittsburgh's local radio stations, because the Steelers lost their playoff game and as a result, many mindless fools are calling in and whining, bitching and moaning about the loss. I can't help but think how much better our country would be if these people would put as much energy into caring what is happening in the country, as they do about how their football team is doing. Don't misunderstand, I do enjoy sports but, I make an effort to keep it in perspective and not have it at the forefront of my life. Distractions are OK but, when the distraction becomes one's focus, it is a problem. Rumor has it that in these parts after a big loss like today, the police will keep an extra eye on the local bridges looking for jumpers.
I could never understand why so many people call in and thank the host for taking their call. Isn't that what the host's job is? If the host didn't take your call, he wouldn't have a show.
Sports and other talk shows all have there place and there isn't anything wrong with diversions from the daily monotony but, we need to focus more on priorities. All of this just serves as another way to keep the majority of Americans from paying attention to the "man behind the curtain," and how they are manipulating us.

DIARY OF A MADMAN: CRAZY THOUGHT NUMBER ONE

I had a crazy thought a while back. One of many and I've noticed an increase in their frequency as well. But anyway, why not share out here on the world wide web and give others the ability to share my insanity.
My thought was pretty simple. What if millions of us regular America loving folks all came to together here on the WWW and agreed to just go to Washington and start banging on the doors and windows of the Capitol? Now doesn't that paint a crazy picture in your head. Millions of Americans all walking down the streets of DC with the intent and purpose to go and bang on the windows at the Capitol to throw a scare into our (mostly) useless politicians and all their cohorts?
I'm talking about a park your car in Maryland or Virginia if you have to and start walking kind of mass conflagration of Americans (no pitchforks) paying our "servants" a hello, how you doing, kind of visit. Of course my thought goes in two different directions. One, I see all of us filling up the city streets and banging on those windows and peeking in and waving to our friends inside and they all come out and say "OK we're going to get down to business and straighten this country once and for all."
Two, I see us getting to the outskirts of the city and being mowed down on the orders of those very same elected officials, just like those poor Syrians. If I was a betting man, I put my money on scenario number two.

THE DEGREES TO WHICH THERE ARE DEGREES

Screw Iran

As I was reading an article on Drudge earlier today regarding how the West was going to "tighten" the sanctions on Iran, (for the tenth time at least), it got me to thinking about how we do some pretty important things by degrees, instead of at 100% from the outset.
For instance, as big of as*holes as the Iranians have been and continue to be, it boggles my mind that there is still room to further "tighten" these sanctions. Why don't we start with 100%, the tightest and most stringent sanctions possible, then let up a little if they cooperate? Doesn't it seem idiotic to start easy, then SLOWLY try to turn the screws? I can't say I know what the most complete sanctions would be but, I would bet that if we had fully and totally nailed them from the beginning, we would have some positive results by now. Time to cut the sh*t and step on their throats!
I've noticed that politics isn't the only thing we do like this. I've even seen in in advertisements. I recently saw one for Lasix Eye Surgery that indicated you could have a good, better, or best procedure. Now am I the only fool that thinks if I were ever to have this operation, I wasn't going for the cheaper one? It seems nuts to me but, I guess that's how we do things in America nowadays. It may be OK to do it when you are buying a microwave or tickets to a show but, I think some things are best done full throttle from the get go. Of course, I know I'm full of sh*t on this, just ask the Cubans.

We could argue till the cows come home as to who is number one, twelve, thirty or forty-two. But, what can't be argued in the two that rank 43rd and 44th. History is going to have a pretty tough call on that one. Maybe the fact that one can prove he was born in the United States could be the tipping point.

On this date in 1791 The Bill of Rights went into effect. I would say a pretty monumental accomplishment thanks to the work and sacrifice of the Founding Fathers. It has been under attack a great deal recently, especially over the past three years. There are so many people running around shouting about their "Rights" but, do they truly understand what these rights are all about and how important it is to protect them? Based on the dimwits I've seen at all the OWS encampments, I seriously doubt it.

I believe one of the ongoing effects of 9/11 has been the way it has been used as an excuse to expand government's power over citizens, in ways that go far beyond "security and safety." I don't think our Founding Fathers would be too happy to see the extent of the threat to individual liberty that we are dealing with today. We are seeing too many examples of an expansive government, going beyond its authority and finding ways to neutralize or circumvent the rights granted in this great document. Only time will tell if these rights will be preserved or lost.

What the hell is going on around here? Why suddenly do I have to sign up for anything and everything by going though Facebook or Twitter or some other social media site?   If I want to enter a contest, print out a coupon, contact a radio station, fill out a survey, sign up for tickets, send a letter to a politician, you name it, it seems like everybody wants to force me to a Facebook, Twitter or some other impersonal and public page where everyone can see my private communication?
I listen to talk radio a lot and now all the hosts take five minutes each hour to tell me all the different ways I can use to contact them. They give me Facebook page addresses, Twitter Account addresses, Email addresses, 800 phone numbers, local phone numbers, text phone numbers, you name it. By the time they get though it all, I've lost interest in the show. Hey, and the best part of me staying away from this crap is now the government is going to monitor it all. I understand the Library of Congress is going to collect all the Tweets ever tweeted. (Who the F**k came up with that stupid word anyway?)    Damn, that George Orwell was truly a prophet.
I guess it's part of the insanity of living in the modern world. I know I have to deal with it but, I don't have to like it!      Remember when we used to think that America would be brought to its knees by Soviet Nuclear Missiles? Now all someone has to do is shut off the electricity.   Good thing the terrorists don't know that!

Interesting notes of the day. (A slow day I might add)

Today is the anniversary of the 1958 founding of the John Birch Society. As most folks are aware the organization was originally founded to battle the threat of Communism.

China declared war on Japan in 1941. I guess that means we were on the same side.

It's hard to believe Kirk Douglas is 95. Seems like yesterday he was 94.

Interesting story on Drudge today regarding how the 2012 Democratic National Convention has the potential to become a 2nd 1968. Now this will be an interesting story to follow in the upcoming months. The troubling conditions in our country could escalate and rapidly deteriorate. We'll see.

Thank God This is My Reality

OK I've finally figured it out. None of this is real. Not Obama, not a lame, ineffective Congress, not a collapsing economy, not the Donald Trump debate, not the hag show called The View, or openly gay men in the military or even, an American Attorney General spearheading weapons sales to drug cartels. Neither is a 14 trillion dollar debt, or Barbara Walters still on TV, or that Regis retired. And to think I was buying it all. I actually believed that there were 57 states, corpsemen in the army and people were actually involved in something called "tweeting." I even thought somebody built an electric car that was always catching fire, that Alec Baldwin was a liberal hack, that we were sending billions of dollars to Pakistan. Can you imagine how foolish I felt actually believing that some fruitcake named Barney caused an economic catastrophe, that a bunch of vagrants were taking over public parks around the country and that Americans were starting election cycles two years in advance. Pretty amazing, huh? I was never so happy to realize that I was actually living in an episode of The Twilight Zone. I feel much better knowing that I'm living there. Can you imagine if all that other stuff was real?

Defend Yourself

Why do we still have 30,000 troops in South Korea, 66,000 in Germany, and 53,000 in Japan of all places? I understand the idea may be to act as a deterrent to China or North Korea and Iran but, there has to be a better way to do this than to have all these soldiers overseas in countries that should be able to defend themselves or at the very least, help us out a lot more. It's time to let the Japanese rearm and take some responsibility for defending that area of the world. We simply can't continue to be the world's policeman. We can't afford it. The money isn't there to continue these foreign operations to the extent we have for all these decades. We make a big deal out of trying to help the Afghans and the Iraqis defend themselves. Why not the Japanese? Certainly, the Germans can pick up some slack in Europe. The South Koreans have a pretty good military force already. It's time to wise up and pull our resources back home.

PAYING MORE FOR LESS

Reports indicate that the Post Office will be announcing tomorrow that they are going to close more post offices, postal distribution operations and increase the time they take to deliver a First Class Letter. Now it seems to me, we will be getting a lot less for our money even as the postal service continues to operate in the red with a seemingly endless supply of tax dollars propping it up.
Another example of our government "helping" us. It's disgraceful how they have allowed the Postal Service to become a bloated, inefficient bureaucracy that has been losing billions of dollars for a number of years. Why should we be surprised since this is how the government operates under normal circumstances? The post office is the poster child for incompetence and shows us why the private sector will always trump the government when it comes to operating any kind of business.

44 years...you got to be kidding

It was all the way back in 1967 that Christian Barnard performed the first human to human Heart Transplant. As a teenager I can distinctly remember when I first heard this and how much in awe I was that something like that was even possible. I can even recall the name of the patient as a Louis Washkansky. It just makes me think of all those things we were going through back then and how these world-changing events affected us all, and myself in particular. The awe of events like this, the moon landing, space flight in general, the 1968 Olympics or even the Democratic Convention still resonate with me. Maybe that is something that is missing today. I don't think folks, especially kids are awed by much at all. Nothing seems big enough, important enough or interesting enough to have that kind of effect on people. Even the tremendous technological advancements, the modern space program or a nuclear catastrophe in Japan seem to generate any long term interest or impact young people. I think it' sad, mainly because I remember with fondness how much those awe inspiring events and people impacted and shaped my youth. I guess it's just another example that proves you can't go back.
I'm finding that one of the blessings of getting older is the reflection and recollections that one can make about the past. Maybe I'm full of sh*t but, I'm seeing most of it with rose colored glasses. Well, "Here's looking at you kid."

This is way too easy

According to Yahoo, the top 10 Searches in 2011 are; the iPhone, Casey Anthony, Kim Kardashian, Katy Perry, Jennifer Lopez, Lindsay Lohan, American Idol, Jennifer Aniston, Japan's Earthquake and Osama bin Laden. Therefore, as a result of learning this important info, I must assume that this is what is on the minds of many many people.   If so, it's quite sad and embarrassing that folks dwell so much on these nonsensical and irrelevant things. Granted, Japan's earthquake and the death of bin Laden are relevant but, as for the rest, it appears to be a monumental waste of time and energy.
I understand some people need to find distractions or diversions but, it has become ridiculous.
It seems like there are so many folks out there who don 't want to deal with reality so they continually want to lose themselves in this nonsense. They seem very content to have someone else worry about their real life problems so they can put their energy into following the Hollywood idiocy.
I see it primarily as a maturity issue, an education (or lack of) issue and one of an attitude of entitlement.
The idea that I can have ten kids and it's my neighbor's job to pay for them, or that I'm not accountable for my actions doesn't come out of nowhere. It's an attitude that is gleaned over many years and becomes almost like a part of one's DNA. In order to develop this kind of attitude you must be able to free your mind of worrying about relevant things like, getting a job, paying attention to one's kids, repaying loans or any of a thousand hum drum subjects from the real world.
When you watch these fools on TV and you see how they act, it's no surprise we as a nation are in the state we are in.   Then of course the other side of the coin is that you have so many liberal politicians continually feeding this kind of behavior and attitude so as to improve their own lot, it is disgusting.
It's time to pull the nipple back and make these irresponsible people stand on their own two feet and bear the responsibility for their actions ( or in-actions).
Quit wasting your time on the nonsense 24/7 and make an effort to contribute positively to society.

ODDBALL COLLECTION OF ANNIVERSARIES

Today marked an interesting collection of anniversaries in American History. For anyone keeping score it's been 14 years since the Kyoto Summit that gave a push to the Global Warming hype. Today scientists are still arguing over the truth of this stuff, much like they are arguing about whether salt is good or bad, or whether cell phones cause brain tumors and pretty much everything else. If you are like me, you just ignore everything that begins with the words, "Scientists say."
It it also the anniversary of the arrest of Rosa Parks for refusing to ride in the back of bus in Montgomery Alabama in 1955. When I was younger I used to believe she was just a lady who suddenly made this decision after she boarded, to refuse to move to the back. It was not till much later that I learned she was drafted by members of the Civil Rights Movement and the whole thing was planned BEFORE she got near a bus. Nonetheless, I have to give her credit for having the guts to do something that was so dangerous and at the same time, revolutionary.

Finally, December 1st was also the 167th anniversary of the Election of 1824, which say the U.S. House of Representatives handed the election to John Q. Adams over Andrew Jackson, after Henry Clay (the third wheel in this Constitutional Dilemma) threw his support to Adams. This was one of the first major Constitutional Crisis in U.S. History. (Gee, I wonder if Obama's eligibility would have been another had it come to that?) I bet so.

Time is Running Out

The good news is, it is another month closer to the election of 2012. The bad news is there are still 13 months left to the occupation. It is fast becoming a race of whether we will be able to make it, or whether our nation will collapse under the weight of the destructive politicians trying to run us into the ground.
It is very much like the scene in the movies where the guy is leaning out the window at the top of a skyscraper and is holding on to the other guy with one hand. What we see in this scene is the grip slowing slipping away and we reach a point where the man falls to his death or a hero is able to somehow pull him up to safety. In the same way, we are seeing this analogy play out right before our eyes. Our country is dangling out the window, trying to hold on before the guys in charge lose their grip.
At the moment, it's a 50-50 proposition as to whether we can hold on long enough to find someone to pull us to safety. One thing seems pretty obvious, the guy in charge right now, doesn't have a very strong grip. What's not so obvious is whether there is someone out there who can jump in and pull us up or not. It's going to be a question as to whether or not we can wait it out. We just may run out of time. If somebody doesn't replace the guy who's grip is slipping, and he get to stay around too much longer, then we are surely doomed.

THANKSGIVING THOUGHTS AND JIM MURRAY

As I'm sitting here pondering my plans for Thanksgiving later today, I can't help but think of holidays past and the people who made them special as I was growing up. Like many of you I'm sure, we didn't have great wealth but, the holidays like Thanksgiving and Christmas were always special. They were filled with food, family and fun. We weren't rich but, we never thought about it, or for that matter even realized it. None of us kids cared or worried about that sort of stuff. We just got to eat and play. It was great and I wouldn't trade it for anything. As I reflect today, I think of myself as a kid and all the things I got to do. I remember how important my friends and relatives were to me in those days, and I think of how sad it was that as we got older, we drifted apart. Many are gone but, the great memories of those days still linger. I think about it a lot more now and I like to pause and reflect, as I play the mental movies over and over in my mind. I had a great many people who influenced me in many ways. There were teachers, movie stars, writers etc. I wish I remembered the details a bit more clearly though but, what I try to do now at every opportunity, is talk to some of those folks and see what they remember about certain events, people or places.
The interesting thing I am finding out as I reminisce is how each of us remembers things differently. It's amazing how one of us remembers something as a big deal but, the other doesn't remember it at all. What I thought was important is not recalled at all by a cousin or a former elementary classmate. Funny how that is. We all see different things differently and we all see the same things differently. Pretty crazy huh?
One thing that popped in my head for some reason today is an article I read in our local newspaper 40 years ago and it really struck me back then and still does today. In fact I even have a copy in an old scrapbook I kept. I've taken a lot of lessons from this short article. Things like, don't sweat the small stuff, or things could always be worse, or even appreciate what you have because it can go away really quickly. The article was written by a man many consider to be the greatest sports writer of all time, Jim Murray.
Murray was a writer for the LA Times and died in 1998 but, had lost his vision many years earlier.

WHAT IF THE MEDIA WERE TRULY INDEPENDENT

Pretend for just a moment that the American Media was actually independent and objective. Quite a fantasy, I know. But, just think of it, the media reporting the truth all the time, 24/7. What a better place this would be. Imagine an America where the opinions of those in the media were labeled as such, kept on the Editorial Page and not interspersed in the middle of news stories in order to create an outcome of some kind. I've forgotten what that is like.

There are so many in the media that seek to create an outcome by what they report as a news story, how they report it, or when and if they report it. If it serves their purpose, facts are included or left out. They may be embellished or downplayed, depending on their value in making us, "see things the way the reporter wants us to."

Some in the media report events as fact, even before they are corroborated. Many reporters do little if any research and are selective in what is left out of a report and what is included. They have become master manipulators of public opinion, and many outlets have become nothing more than arms of one political party or the other. It appears that in many cases reporters have an agenda, and as a result, use their positions to promote that agenda.

It is very easy to get away with most of these indiscretions when you have a large segment of the population who is not interested in following events or having opinions of their own. They are content to simply parrot what they hear on a network newscast or read in a slanted newspaper. America's media wasn't always like this, in fact, once upon a time, they were the guardians of freedom. No more! Their demise has been a long, slow and arduous one and it appears the last gasp of objectivity is about to be expelled. RIP

OVERWHELMING NEGATIVITY

Almost daily I find myself developing such a negative impression about what is going on in this country that I'm becoming more and more convinced that things around here are becoming hopeless. When I say hopeless I don't mean a little hopeless, I mean End of the Roman Empire hopeless. Every day as I read the stories, newspapers, watch the TV news and listen to the radio talk shows, I get a stronger feeling of this hopelessness in our nation's ability to overcome all (or even some) of that which is before us.
From the Solyandra Scandal, the OWS protests, Congressional insider trading scandal, the multifaceted Obamacare debacle, the Penn State mess, the insanity of allowing illegal immigration, mandated diversity and political correctness, Welfare and Social Security corruption, the Economic collapse and everything else in between
It's getting next to impossible to have any faith that problems can be solved. What are the options? There really aren't many, other than to wage this fight we are in, perpetually. A never ending struggle carried out on a treadmill. . It seems to me that our only option is to win. To set this nation straight and get it back on track but, I'm more convinced then ever that that will never happen. Of course losing is not an option but, neither is the ongoing draw we seem to have. In my estimation a draw is a loss for our side. We can't have sanity winning half the time and be happy about it. The other side does not face this dilemma. They are much happier with the status quo then we could ever be. How can we hope to resolve problems arithmetically when they seem to be growing exponentially?
Is there any hope of getting America back to what it was? Back to all the things that made this nation great? In my mind, it's not likely. Any hope you can provide is appreciated.

Today is an important day in America. It is a day to honor and recognize the sacrifices of the many Veterans who have served this country here at home and all over the world.
It is a day that unfortunately, doesn't get the recognition it should from enough of the American people. Like so many of our holidays it has become another day to focus on sales and shopping instead of observing the efforts of so many of our brave soldiers. Far too many of our schools are no longer teaching the history of the day. If you have children or grandchildren the onus of teaching them this important stuff will fall on you. Please pause and reflect then thank a vet. God Bless America and our Vets.

COMPARING TWO AMERICAS.... IT'S PAST AND PRESENT

A Must Read-HIGH SCHOOL -- 1957 vs. 2010

Scenario 1:

Jack goes quail hunting before school and then pulls into the school parking lot with his shotgun in his truck’s gun rack.

1957 – Vice Principal comes over, looks at Jack’s shotgun, goes to his car and gets his shotgun to show Jack.

2010 – School goes into lock down, FBI called, Jack hauled off to jail and never sees his truck or gun again. Counselors called in for traumatized students and teachers.

Scenario 2:

Johnny and Mark get into a fist fight after school.

1957 – Crowd gathers. Mark wins.. Johnny and Mark shake hands and end up buddies.

2010 – Police called and SWAT team arrives—they arrest both Johnny and Mark. They are both charged them with assault and both expelled even though Johnny started it.

Scenario 3:

Jeffrey will not be still in class, he disrupts other students.

1957 – Jeffrey sent to the Principal’s office and given a good paddling by the Principal. He then returns to class, sits still and does not disrupt class again.

2010 – Jeffrey is given huge doses of Ritalin. He becomes a zombie. He is then tested for ADD. The school gets extra money from the state because Jeffrey has a disability.

Scenario 4:

Billy breaks a window in his neighbor’s car and his Dad gives him a whipping with his belt..

1957 – Billy is more careful next time, grows up normal, goes to college and becomes a successful businessman.

2010 – Billy’s dad is arrested for child abuse. Billy is removed to foster care and joins a gang. The state psychologist is told by Billy’s sister that she remembers being abused herself and their dad goes to prison. Billy’s mom has an affair with the psychologist.

Scenario 5:

Mark gets a headache and takes some aspirin to school

1957 – Mark shares his aspirin with the Principal out on the smoking dock.

2010 – The police are called and Mark is expelled from school for drug violations His car is then searched for drugs and weapons.

Scenario 6:

Pedro fails high school English.

1957 – Pedro goes to summer school, passes English and goes to college.

2010 – Pedro’s cause is taken up by state. Newspaper articles appear nationally explaining that teaching English as a requirement for graduation is racist. ACLU files class action lawsuit against the state school system and Pedro’s English teacher. English is then banned from core curriculum. Pedro is given his diploma anyway but ends up mowing lawns for a living because he cannot speak English.

Scenario 7:

Johnny takes apart leftover firecrackers from the Fourth of July, puts them in a model airplane paint bottle and blows up a red ant bed.

1957 – Ants die.

2010 – ATF, Homeland Security and the FBI are all called. Johnny is charged with domestic terrorism. The FBI investigates his parents —and all siblings are removed from their home and all computers are confiscated.
Johnny’s dad is placed on a terror watch list and is never allowed to fly again.

Scenario 8:

Johnny falls while running during recess and scrapes his knee. He is found crying by his teacher, Mary. Mary hugs him to comfort him.

1957 – In a short time, Johnny feels better and goes on playing.

2010 – Mary is accused of being a sexual predator and loses her job. She faces 3 years in State Prison… Johnny undergoes 5 years of therapy.

Stay Focused My Friend

I learned a lot today about what is truly important in my world and I owe it all to the media. Yes, TV, Radio and my Local Newspaper have helped focus me on the major items that require my undivided attention and concern.
Now, I already know there are a couple of major wars going on, radiation is spreading in Japan, Israel is getting ready to attack Iran and WW III might start as a result, our economy is collapsing, Chinese influence is spreading across the world, the whole town of Joplin Mo., was wiped out a few months back, and a comet is heading directly for us but, enough about all this insignificant nonsense. I've read the paper and watched the news on TV today so I'm ready to focus and really worry about the things that matter. You should probably do the same, so let me share some of what the media helped me focus on today.

1. Did you know that Kim Kardashian is getting a divorce after only 72 days of marriage? Did you know that gay people are really mad at her? Yep, they're mad because they say she is allowed to get married and blew it, while they still can't. Now I know this is mucho importanto because they had Mr. Zulu himself on saying so. I think I was able to see this breaking news four or five times today as I surfed the TV channels.

2. There is a little white baby missing in one of the states in the Midwest somewhere I think. It's a very sad thing but, now I realize there are kidnappers on almost every street in our country. You should probably have a chip implanted in your kid, they said. Pretty good advice I think. And maybe your dog too, in case he runs away or somebody steals him.

3. Nancy Grace is still on Dancing with the Stars. This must really be important because it was on all the major networks morning shows AND in my local paper. I'm really hoping she wins so 60 Minutes will do an hour on her down the road.

4. The police had to go into a house in Pittsburgh and take out 20 cats. Yep, all over the local news. I really worry that all those cats are OK.

5. The Obamas gave out Halloween Treats the other day. Not sure what it was exactly because one network says it was fruit, another said candy. So I'm not sure exactly.

6. Michael Jackson's doctor is in a lot of trouble. He was putting Michael to sleep with some heavy drug. There were a lot of big attorneys and their guests talking about it all day. You can even watch it on TV, live if you want to.

7. Some women are mad at Herman Cain for being sexually suggestive with them nearly 20 years ago. I hear they want to come out and tell their story. Funny that it didn't matter before but, now it does.

8. Some blond actress named Lindsay Lohan is in a lot of trouble and should be in jail. But, since it's in California they don't have any room so they keep leaving her off the hook. They said she has problems with addiction so she will probably die soon like Amy Winehouse. Too bad.

Hopefully, these examples will help you to get your focus on what's important in America today just like I did. Now get busy and start worrying about the right stuff Dammit!

A Right to Everything

I came upon this little tidbit from Daniel Mitchell's Blog regarding FDR and his desire for a 2nd Bill of Rights. This was something I had not been aware of and I must say I was a bit disappointed to see what he thought those rights should be. Come to think of it, I can't recall any of his speeches where he talked about working hard and earning what you have. The ones I've heard seem to talk about giving stuff to people. I think it's the Robin Hood Syndrome 1940's Version. When you watch these old clips you start to realize where the Democratic Party's ideas about big government come from. No wonder so many of the Kool-Aid drinkers think they are entitled to "something for nothing." This is the mantra of the OWS useful idiots. Go figure!

THE CLARENCE THOMASING OF HERMAN CAIN

Well here they come and right on cue at that. I'm talking about the latest "revelations" regarding the supposed sexual harassment by Herman Cain against a couple of women that supposedly occurred while he was head of the National Restaurant Association in the 1990's.
Sounds very much like the same crap Anita Hill pulled on Justice Thomas (who at that time could be said was a victim of Borking) during his confirmation hearings for the Supreme Court. I would have bet a dollar to a donut that this was going to start as soon as Cain became a more serious candidate. This kind of crap has to be on page one of the looney liberal left-wing playbook. Prepare for an onslaught of this garbage not only directed at Cain but at Perry as well. We already know about the rock outside the entrance to a camp Perry's father owned, so I guess it's already begun. The trick is to distract the masses from the issues and focus them on some sleazy side-show attraction.
The test will be how thick of a skin Cain has. I expect he will be fuming about this kind of thing a lot more than a career politician might, since they tend to be used to it. We shall see.

Illusion of Freedom

It's taken me a long long time to realize that freedom really doesn't exist in this country to the extent I had initially believed, and it hasn't for quite a long time.   I was one who, like so many others, drank the Kool-aid and spent the majority of my youth actually believing the propaganda I was taught in elementary and secondary school. The propaganda about how we had rights and freedoms and could do whatever we wanted to (as long as it wasn't against the law) because "it was a free country." Or at least that's how we interpreted it. I wish I had a dollar for every time I heard or made that statement myself, as I was growing up. As kids we used to think that it meant we could do almost anything we wanted to since, "it was a free country." Now of course, over many years, I've come to realize that wasn't quite true. We couldn't do just anything, because there were some limitations and restrictions to this unbounded freedom. There were parameters, a boundary if you will, within which you had to practice these freedoms and rights. I believe, as we were taught about the Constitution and Bill of Rights, we took our minimal understanding of it and ran with this newly discovered knowledge and took it way too far. I had a friend who once told one of our teachers that he couldn't make him stand with his nose on the back wall for misbehaving since, "it was a free country." After he got paddled for mouthing off and his dad came to school and whacked him again, he became an early and important lesson for the rest of us in beginning to realize that these rights and freedoms weren't as unlimited as we believed. Johnny came to learn that the hard way. Yeah, he was free to a point but not in an unlimited way. It was an eye opening experience to say the least.
I came to believe over time that what we had in America (despite the limitations) was still a pretty good deal. I could still do a lot of things that I wanted to do.
However, in the last 10 years or so, I have been observing more and more encroachments on freedoms. These encroachments appear more and more common in our daily lives. In listening to the government, their reasoning many times is, it's for our own good, or some version of that. (there's a surprise) If you consider everything from the TSA's pat down policies, the fact that where you live determines if you can purchase a gun or not, the increase in police powers regarding search and seizure, the increased use of Eminent Domain, the use of Social Security Numbers as a form of Identification, the denial of permits to law abiding citizens for everything from guns to assembly requests or, just about everything in between, one can realize the overall significance (and increasing nature) of these encroachments.
I realize I'm preaching to the choir regarding how much the government has infiltrated our daily lives and has taken over duties that in the past were performed by parents or dealt with within the family but, it is, in my opinion, worth being reminded, in order to stay vigilant regarding this troubling trend. Much of this can slip by us without resistance because of the slow progression of it and the fact that much of it goes on without any notification. We don't become aware of it until it affects us directly, and of course, by then, it is much too late. It's like being eaten by ants except, it's by one ant at a time.
It's proven to me that limited government is useful and can be a great partner in a free republic but, just as that is so, massive government bureaucracies and interference, can be deadly.   Sadly, when you have a large portion of the population that thrives on this bloat and largess, and who don't want it to end, because they benefit from it, we have the turmoil that we see around us today. How we deal with this in the near term will have an unprecedented impact on America's future and whether or not we have one.

WORRYING ABOUT THE WRONG THINGS?

Focus only on what's important !

Can it be that way too many Americans have become so focused on paying way too much attention to all the wrong things?
Instead of paying attention to the fact that we are fighting in two major wars, engaging to a lesser extent in a third, and now sending troops into a fourth, or that the economy is pretty much wrecked beyond repair, or that we are still in the midst of a nuclear catastrophe in Japan, the emergence of a nuclear Iran, or reeling from the effects of a massive oil spill in the Gulf and a host of other critical problems, we are more interested in Casey Anthony, Dancing with the Stars, the behavior of idiotic Hollywood celebrities, multimillionaire athletes, what the Kardashians are wearing or, who will be the next top model.
As a result of so many Americans being distracted by and obsessed with moronic issues, the real important and relevant ones are ignored totally, or else given a bare minimum of attention.
Things like crime, education, the growing threat from China and Russia or the global financial meltdown, are barely a blimp on the disinterested, average American's radar. Face it, the average "dumbed-down" American "doesn't know or give a shit" about what's going on in the world.
Who ever thought we would be able to say that the biggest hindrance to America's long term survival and success would be the "AMERICAN PEOPLE? What the hell has happened to us?

One thing is for certain and that is, Obama must be ousted in 2012. That is number one, the main thing, the big enchilada, BO MUST GO!
However, the problem presents itself on how to go about assuring this becomes reality. Now it's not that BO isn't doing his best to help the cause, what with all his screw-ups, failed policies, idiotic associations, weak appointments and generally lousy record but, with the Republican field splintering the right, my general fear is that BO will trip, fall, stumble backwards and fall back into the Oval Office. Another four years of this disaster and we might as well Nuke ourselves.
My hope is that a standout candidate emerges sooner rather than later from the Republican field.
After much consideration I've decided that it is counter-productive for me to say I like each candidate a little bit and keep myself waffling and indecisive. As a result, I've decided that I'm going to attach myself to the Herman Cain bandwagon and ride it till the wheels fall off. I'm going into this knowing there are going to be things about him I'm not going to always like but, I'm thinking it's getting to rug cutting time and so there it is. I am now at peace and can be assured of a good night's sleep.    Not to mention how good I already feel about myself for supporting a "real" 100% black man AND he is American for God's sake. Now I'm going to wait for all my conservative friends and family to see the wisdom in this decision and jump aboard the Cain-Train!

PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION OVERLOAD

I'm not sure I'm strong enough to tolerate another Presidential Campaign that is going to last for the next 13 months. Is it me or doesn't it seem like we just finished one a few days back?
Somewhere along the line, I'm not exactly sure when, these election cycles have been starting earlier and earlier. It's now to the point that they are beginning about half way into the incumbents term. It's just plain nuts to be going through this nonsense well over a year before the election.
One of the things I believe would help would be to change the Constitution to allow the President to serve one, six year term. instead of two four-year terms.   Not only would it delay the onset of this perpetual electioneering, it would save the taxpayers billions of dollars. For example, instead of having six elections in a 24 year period, the number would be reduced to four thus, sparing us two election cycles over this time period. While we are at it, let's allow Representatives to hold their office for four years instead of two. The two year term may be the most ridiculous cycle of all. We elect a representative, they serve the first year and then must start campaigning in the second. Quite crazy if you want to admit it.
Finally, we need to make these terms limited in order to prevent these lifetime politicos from gaining a stranglehold on the country.

NATIONAL MONUMENTS AND WHY WE CAN'T PRODUCE OUR OWN RESOURCES

This is a National Monument??

One of the many tricks used by liberal Presidents like Bill Clinton and now Barack Obama to stifle America's ability to find our own energy sources such as coal and natural gas is to name the area where these resources are, a national monument.
The President can name an area a national monument with the stroke of a pen and, as a result, prevent the exploration and extraction of resources from this newly protected area. Perhaps the best example of this tactic is the Grand Staircase-Escalante in Utah which was named by Clinton in 1996, effectively eliminating over 1.9 million acres, some of which contain our nation's (and the world's) best clean coal reserves, from being mined.
Now a couple of interesting things pop up here. First, when you go into this area expecting to see some sort of monument, forget it. There is nothing there besides the natural outcroppings of plateaus and canyons. Secondly, and more interestingly, there are only two known areas of the world where this type of excellent quality coal exists. Here in Utah at the Grand-Staircase Escalante AND in Indonesia. What's the big deal about Indonesia, you ask? Well if you remember the mid-1990's and Bill Clinton's list of buddies, an interesting name pops up. Do you remember James Riady and his daddy Mochtar? Well guess who had a great deal of interest in the Indonesian coal business? With the Grand Staircase taken out of the picture as far as coal production goes, guess who has a monopoly on the production of this resource? When Rick Santorum mentioned in the debate recently that the U.S. is importing coal, of all things, it just reminded me about this little bit of Clintonian treachery.

Is there anything more enjoyable then seeing someone get their comeuppance, particularly when it's done with humor and backed up with examples and facts? I especially enjoy it when the person or people getting said comeuppance, think(s) they are pulling something on the rest of us, and that we will blindly and stupidly believe it, just because they said so.

What's All The Fuss About?

      I could have sworn that the end of the world was coming very soon but, evidently (and thankfully) I was wrong. It made me think a bit how fickle we are about events (even major ones) and how influenced we are by what the media feeds us or puts in our heads at any given time. Think of the major catastrophic events that have occurred recently and were guaranteed to cause our destruction but, you haven't heard anything about lately.

(1) The Gulf Oil Spill-Where in the hell did that story go? Wasn't this going to destroy the entire Gulf for fishing, vacations etc., and then spread around the world as the Earth emptied itself of all its oil? Everything must be OK down there because I haven't heard a peep about this event for months.

(2) The Japanese Nuclear Disaster-I always thought a nuclear meltdown was something really serious. I guess not, I haven't heard this mentioned for weeks and weeks.   I guess a few Nukes going off here and there really wouldn't be such a bad thing after all? Wonder why they scared the shit out of us back in elementary school with all that duck and cover crap?

(3) Y2K-Planes falling out of the sky, nukes launching themselves, communications down around the globe. Well you know........all the usual BS.

(4) The melting polar ice caps and the movement of glaciers-WTF? Where have you gone Al Gore?   I thought for sure this one was it.

Well hopefully, you get my point. It doesn't appear that things we are told (or think) are nearly as serious or worrisome as we may have thought. Well that is good news I suppose.
So when that comet hits us head on, maybe it will just be a flesh wound, right? I don't want to worry needlessly you know.

Please Help Me Quit

One of the best ways to help this country climb out of the mess we are in, is to introduce the concept of "term limits" into all levels of government, particularly the Federal and State. Now, we all know this is something that the lifetime politicians are well aware of, yet, they try to avoid its discussion like the plague. When you are riding a lifetime gravy train, as many of these people are, it is not hard to figure out why they don't want to support changing to a system that would effectively limit their power and influence, and do so voluntarily. Obviously, in order to get these leeches off of their addiction to permanent political office, is going to take some effort by the rest of us. It is critical to pressure those in power to install limits on their terms. But, realistically we know they won't, so we must do it ourselves. As voters it is incumbent upon us to vote out anyone who has been in office eight years or more, regardless of their political effectiveness or their political party. We have to "help" these addicts find the door when the time comes.
Nothing would clean up the political system and the crud we are experiencing at all levels, more than the rotation of the individuals holding these elected positions.
The fact that these folks can continually get themselves re-elected for decades, allows them to build up an unhealthy level of power and influence, which is dangerous and does not serve the best interests of the nation. Having a politician serving in the Senate or House for 20, 30 or 40 years is not what the Founders intended nor, should it be something we Americans of today accept. This is not much different than having a Monarchy in which the king has absolute power and control for his entire life. These political positions were to be held for a short time, by men who wanted to serve their state or nation, then move on back to their original life's work. What we are seeing now is a raping of the system by career politicians, who parlay their longevity in office into jobs for friends and relatives, and create for themselves a base of power that they use to influence way too many things, not intended for them to control.
If we are to clean up the mess at the federal and state levels of government, we must promote two terms, or a maximum of eight year limits for anyone elected in the House or Senate in Washington, and in every state capital as well.

Get That Damn Thing Off Me

Well, if anyone out there needed further proof as to whether the politicians in D.C. were more interested in fu*king up the country, then making the tough choices necessary to pull us back out of the quagmire they have created, last night's vote on raising the debt ceiling should pretty much clear it up for you.
It's evident that there is a fundamental, yet catastrophic division in this country. It appears to me that we have two clearly opposing forces at work here, and I just can't see any way back to unity.
One side is made up of Americans who have a strong work ethic, who want their government to be involved in their lives only to the extent necessary to preserve the freedoms and opportunities granted to all by the Constitution. Their view is that they, not the government, are responsible for themselves and their families. They are self reliant folks that meet all obligations to family and country, without the need for force of government.   Independence and Constitutional principles and law and justice mean everything to them.
On the other side, you have a group of Americans who in some ways are similar to the first group but with some glaring differences. This group has many members who are second or third generation recipients of government largess. They and their parents, (though many may be good people) believe in the benefits of a massive government, and that it is useful in solving their problems, and is there to provide for them, in every possible way. They lack the motivation for independence and self reliance and have become so dependent on outside forces to care for them and their needs, that many have forgotten (or never learned) how to be responsible for themselves. They chose the easy road of expecting some large, shadowy force to provide for them. Many of these folks claim to respect the Constitution but, their actions say otherwise. To them the rules and laws of the nation are meant to be followed when convenient and bent or ignored entirely, when not.
It's equally unclear to me as to how we can fix these problems now that we are dealing with a group of people in which these beliefs are completely ingrained. It is no longer a choice for many of them. It is all they know. In my view, it is impossible to deal with people who have developed these attitudes and beliefs to the point they have become part of their DNA. It's like asking a man with no legs to dance with you...............impossible.
It seems as if our government and our nation are headed over the abyss with no parachute or net to break the fall. The frightening thing is to imagine life here 20, 30 or 40 years from now. The reckless and destructive policies of our politicians and the emergence of a large segment of Americans, who have neither the skill or desire to avoid catastrophe are coming together in the perfect storm, which will signal the end of the American Empire as we know it. Pray For One Term

It's pretty clear to anyone with a brain, or those not so jaded by there blind political allegiances, that the administration of Barack Obama has put the country on a path toward destruction, Now the destruction might not be physical. You know the kind you see in the movies after the Atomic Bomb goes off and the buildings are crumbling or just skeletons of steel beams, as the morning light rises to show all the dust blowing in the air. No, not that kind of destruction but, a destruction equally as devastating to every man, woman and child in America, The destruction unleashed by this President is one of financial destruction, moral destruction and the destruction of the American Spirit.
The financial destruction is evident in the volatility of the markets, lack of jobs, increases in inflation, collapse of the housing market, the healthcare debacle and the like. Just as evident is the destruction of the moral direction of this country. Granted it began over 50 years ago but, the speed at which the decay has increased in the last three years is astounding. The debauchery we witness on a daily basis, in films, on TV, and in our own communities are now considered protected Constitutionally guaranteed practices. Concern about gays in the military,take precedents over jobs and education. The rights of illegal aliens take precedents over the rights of hard-working, taxpaying average Americans. Concern over fairness and the rights of terrorists trump the rights of U.S. citizens. Apparently, there is no end to this madness, as long as this man is in the White House.
Perhaps the most tragic acts of destruction are those leveled against the "American Spirit." That intangible thing that has been the foundational corner stone of the country It is being systematically debased and destroyed by this President, and his administration, through their actions. Everything from the placement of liars, incompetents and tax scofflaws in high administration positions, such as the Justice Department and others, has created a crisis of faith in our nation. Obama's policies continue to repress the spirit of invention, investment, and go so far as to dampen, if not destroy the work ethic that made America great. (Dems know it too) Policies like 99 weeks of unemployment benefits, which encourages people NOT to work, or his continued efforts to block drilling of oil and gas, send the message that America is not worth it anymore. His love for increasing spending and desiring to increase taxes and to grow government to epic proportions are toxic blows to the spirit of what made this country great.
Americans need to soon wise up to this man and his cohort and the destructive tactics of his administration before it is too late. Four more years of Obama's incompetence and America will be unrecognizable.

Isn't it quite remarkable how little we are hearing about the horrors of the AIDS epidemic in recent years. Any question as to why? All the bluster about the end of the world. Let me tell you what I think. What has changed about AIDS? If you think about it, nothing really. The disease is still out there, there has been no vaccine or any type of cure for that matter. The only difference is that the wealthy have been able to "buy" there way through it. Treatments and medications that folks like Magic and the like can afford, is enough to keep them going. Not so much for the average Joe, or the poor Joe. It's not as important to focus on this plague as much now that the rich are getting enough treatment. Interesting how that all works. As soon as the rich begin to suffer again or the disease morphs in a way that affects the Magic Johnson's of the world negatively, then we will begin hearing more about the need to find a cure.

The 2012 election will most likely be the last in America's History ff Obama and the Democrats win, that is. It's likely that if Obama wins and gets to spend four more years at the helm of the nation, we will be, for all intents and purposes, done for. With the kind of leadership we are getting from Obama and his minions we will be lucky to get past this first term, yet alone a second. OK America I hope you got it out of your system. You voted for the incompetent semi-black guy, just to show everyone and yourself, that you are not racist AND in fact, are quite enlightened , and now he has put us on a path to national doom. It's likely to affect us greatly, but, the really worse effects will be felt by our children and grandchildren. We are setting them up with a third world country in which to live.

Is this Real?

Sometimes I wonder if there really is a working Constitution in this country. I keep hearing about it. I see articles about it in newspapers and magazines. I see TV shows that talk about it and I even hear discussions of it on the radio. The bottom line is , I'm not really sure it it actually exists. It's more like the Loch Ness Monster story to me, than a real thing.
What makes me wonder is when I see the obvious violations of the document occurring over and over.   For example, the recent Healthcare debate and the fact that the government is trying to force everyone to purchase healthcare insurance comes to mind. Though the Constitution seeks to prevent the uncontrolled power of government we continue to see attempts to circumvent the document and worse yet, we see far to many judges willing to allow it. The mandate of forcing every American to have health coverage is a current example, there are many others. Even as far back at 1916 with the passage of the 16th Amendment creating an Income Tax, we see examples that ignore the intentions of the Founders.
There is a constant attack on the Constitution and its intent. In Article I Section 1, there is a provision indicating the three requirements to become President. Despite having only three specified requirements, there is some discussion as to whether the current occupant of the White House may be in direct violation of the "natural born" portion these requirements.   We Americans love to talk about imposing "Democracy" on people all over the world. We are involved in wars seeking to do just that yet, we can't see to respect the supreme law of the land ourselves. How can we expect others with no background in democracy to espouse our system of government and its laws when we ourselves continually try to circumvent it.

The battle for the soul of the country is in full swing at the moment, as the liberal left and the diversity crowd, do their utmost to tear apart what was once the greatest nation in the world.
The tradition and Constitution loving conservatives are stepping up to battle these forces of evil at every turn. The odds are difficult, because the liberals will never fight fairly, nor will they acknowledge facts that they don't like, or evidence no matter how clear it is. Conservatives must muddle through everything from the tactics of the lying liberals, to the accusations of racism hurled by the race-baiters. Despite the long odds, conservatives have taken to the Internet and other non-traditional media, to defend their positions and lay out their facts. Fortunately, these avenues are available today since the main stream media is just a mouthpiece for the left, and is not dependable when it comes to reporting the facts.
It is worrisome however, because as the conservatives age and die off, it doesn't appear that there are enough replacements to continue the battles, of promoting the true values and traditions of this nation. Conservatives need to work fast to straighten out the country because eventually they will be engulfed by the ever growing population of "takers" and all will most certainly be lost. As for now it is important for conservative and right-leaning Americans to continue forward to wage the battles that this confrontation with the left-wing, destroyers has created.

ED SCHULTZ: SYMPTOM OF A DISEASE

MSNBC host, Ed Schultz apologized for referring to conservative talker, Laura Ingram as a slut on his recent show. Schultz has been suspended for one week, without pay, for his remarks and has apologized. Now that this has been all said and done, we need to consider the cause of what drove Schultz to make such an idiotic statement in the first place.
In watching the comments, interviews and general attitude and demeanor of the liberal main stream media, one gets the feeling of a feeding frenzy and Schultz is a primary example. It's as if these left-wing liberals have a constant nose for blood in the water. It appears that nothing is off limits to them as they gorge themselves, much like, blood-sucking leeches, in their efforts to disparage the conservatives at every opportunity.
It must be noted that many liberals have no conscience, nor do they have a concern for facts, when it comes to presenting their ideology. It seems like many lifetimes ago that reporters just reported the news and did not take a position or push an agenda. Most caring Americans will agree that Ed Schultz is a blowhard, wacko liberal, assigned to a third rate network and that his outlandish views and comments should be ignored. Though this may be true for the most part, it is equally dangerous to allow idiocy like this to stand unchallenged.   We can agree that name calling like this is child-like behavior but, sometimes even a child's behavior is dangerous.

One doesn't have to search very hard for a multitude of examples on how America can destroy itself. We are seeing examples every day that prove we on the fast track to self destruction.
It appears that the trend is irreversible, especially when we notice the politicians who are driving us there. Many from both parties are only concerned about themselves and their continued reelection. Some are blatant. They lie, cheat and dishonor the memories of so many of our nations past leaders both in Congress and in the White House. It is an outright disgrace to observe these crooks in action.   Some, like Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi ,don't appear to care one bit that we are on to their deceptions. They are hell bent on destroying the country as long as what happens benefits them.
Just consider the following recent events that prove my point.
(1) The disgraceful overspending and debt this clowns are incurring.
(2) Involvement in three war zones now that risk the lives of our troops and add to our economic woes
(3) Unchecked gas prices that have nothing to do with supply and demand but rather, the greed of Wall Street Bankers. This with little effort on the part of our politicians to put a stop to it.
(4) A large portion of the media, the so called fourth estate, who should be looking out for the nations best interest, that are blatantly biased and one sided.
(5) A large division within the population based on race. Much of this today is caused not by actual prejudice or discrimination but by individuals and groups willing to perpetuate the division for their own gain.
(6) Loss of jobs and business because of idiotic governmental practices that favor outside interests over our own.   Allowing outsourcing of jobs with no effort at taking action against those companies that do this.
(7) Allowing multi-billion dollar companies to pay little or no taxes while they export jobs and downsize their U.S. operations.
(8) Not protecting our borders and allowing the free movement of illegals throughout the country
It would be easy to go on and on with these examples. Unless changes are made at the highest levels, it appears our self destruction is imminent. Thou there are politicians of both parties that are guilty, it seems that the election of liberal democrats may be the worst thing to do. Hopefully, a political party with a concern for the legal citizens of America and an understanding of our nation's history and vision of the future, will organize to oppose the entrenched politicians of both sides.

THE STUPIDITY OF PEOPLE CAUSES MOST PROBLEMS

I've reached the conclusion that the majority of problems we have in America today are the result of people who lack intelligence and therefore are unable to deal with daily situations without causing trouble. I believe it's not anger, hate or even, evil. In my view, stupidity is the culprit.
I understand that not everyone can be blessed with intelligence and as a result, we have a large group of folks who go around and cause problems in everything they are involved with. We've all had to deal with these kind of folks in our daily lives. They are prone to start arguing or fighting at the drop of a hat.   Should you say something to them they don't like (or understand) they get angry. If you try to rationalize something with them, they get angry. Facts don't matter to stupid people and neither does proof or evidence.   When you are stupid and don't understand what an intelligent person is trying to say or do, your first response is anger. In my opinion many stupid people can't help themselves. When your brain is not fully developed and able to process any intellectual ideas, it should not be a surprise that the reaction will usually be negative.
An intelligent person can rationalize or laugh off a statement or action that might be offensive or ill-advised. Unfortunately, a stupid individual can't. Therefore, the angry response in immediate. We have all worked with, went to school with, or just met in our daily interactions, people like this and have had to deal with them in some way.
Let's face it the world would be a much better place if stupid people weren't around but, as we know, with over 300 million people in America, we're going to have millions of them running around. As intelligent people, we must try to deal with the stupid as best as we can. It is as history would suggest, "the smart man's burden."

In this great land of cultural and racial diversity, there is no ethic or racial group that can rival the "African" American in their need/willingness/desire to slap you in the face with a proclamation of their "origins."
Yes, we have proud Polish-Americans, proud Italian-Americans, Irish, German and all the rest but, none is quicker or more "in-your-face" with their pronouncements of ethnicity than the black man.
What makes this all humorous, is that in talking with the Polish, German, Italian guy etc., you can get a pretty good discussion of the history, politics or geography of their native lands and you will usually find someone well informed of their roots.
However, in talking with most "African Americans" and bringing up topics relating to Africa, its nations, politics or history, most have no clue. None, zero, zip, nothing.   What is amusing is that they are the first and LOUDEST to shout the praises of their "African-Americanism" despite not being able to identify anything noteworthy of their ancestry. I'm wondering what percentage could even point to Africa on a map.
Then there was the story a couple of years back about the college student from Egypt that tried to get minority preferences because he was an "African" American. After all, he was from Africa (Egypt is in Africa) and he was an American. However logical this all was to many folks, the guy was shot down because those in power didn't think his "color" was African enough. In other words, "black" enough. Now if this isn't the greatest proof of the true racism involved in the whole bullshit process of minority preferences, then nothing is. This guy was way more African than many of the so called standard black "African Americans" that it wasn't even funny. What a bunch of crap. And the funny thing was he really knew things about Africa.
Now I suppose I'm being painted as a racist for pointing this out but, the truth of the matter is it's an honest observation I have made over many years and encounters with folks of all kinds. This is just something I have noticed, have an opinion on, and to some degree find humorous and worth discussion.
I don't think things in this country will ever improve as long as we continually divide ourselves into separate groups based on past historical origins. This is the kind of stuff that works to keep us divided, not united.   If you want to go around shoving your ethnicity into everyone Else's face, regardless of what you are, then at least learn a little bit about what it is you claim to be so proud of and quit trying to use it as a weapon to get your way.

According to a report on Drudge today, noted author Jerome Corsi's new book is set to come out shortly and it may be a bombshell regarding the Obama Saga and his eligibility to be President. Notice I didn't say "qualifications" to be President, since we all know he is the most unqualified President in history.   It should make for interesting discussion among those who doubt Obama's
eligibility to hold our nations highest office. It certainly won't change the mind of many of those who blindly follow Obama and the teachings of the liberal Democratic Party. Constitution be damned, they would support him regardless if they observed him fly down to Earth in a flying saucer.
It's hard to imagine how people who live in a Constitutional Republic such as ours and enjoy all the benefits this country allows for, could support a man with no apparent background or history of any type. It's one this to harp on him not presenting a birth certificate but, he has no apparent records of any type from any places he supposedly lived or schools he attended. How could someone like this be elected to the highest office in the land.
I think most of us know the answer to that. Keep your eyes out for this book and see what if anything new is revealed.

WHAT HAPPENED TO THE MIDDLE

It used to be there was a large segment of American Society that fit into the political middle on most issues and there were small fringe groups on the left and the right. Now its just the opposite. We have large percentages of people who identify with the far left and a large percentage who identify with the far right. Meanwhile, the center appears to be the smallest group. I don't think these divisions happened overnight. They have been building and developing over the past 40-50 years.
The left has become comprised of people who have learned to "beat the system" or take advantage of it in some way. This group is comprised of individuals like, Al Sharpton and Jessie Jackson, who contribute by constantly playing the race card to benefit themselves, or unwed mothers, who have children in order to collect welfare, or even god-awful politicians like Nancy Pelosi or Barney Frank who recklessly work to destroy our country for their own gain, while the right has become populated with citizens who are fed up with the likes of those listed above and who have become more vocal and act out to stop the other side in any way possible. This side is comprised of the likes of Rush Limbaugh, Shawn Hannity, Second Amendment advocates and Tea Party members and others. Thus what we end up with is simply a ballooning left, bent on taking from the working middle class and redistributing wealth to themselves and there ilk and a ballooning right that is rising up to stop the madness. As a result, the victim in this whole episode is the American Center. It makes one think that we are choosing sides for one final battle, much like the gunfighters at the OK Corral. What we know for sure is that only one side will be walking out at the end. The question is, will there still be a country left for the winner to enjoy?

WHAT CAN WE LEARN FROM JAPAN

Events unfolding in Japan should be more than a bit frightening to us on several different levels. Naturally the most obvious is the fact that a nuclear power plant is threatening to melt down and a good deal of radiation has been and is, continuing to leak out. This nuclear nightmare is one that should worry all of us. Radiation has made it's way around the globe and we may never fully know the extent of the damage worldwide.

The other concern for us here in the U.S. should be the observations of how the Japanese nuclear operators and even the government of Japan has reacted to the whole nightmare. The withholding of information, the deception and lack of forthrightness coming from both sources is of great concern, not only because of the lack of faith and trust it creates but, it gives some insight into what would also happen here, if a similar disaster happened on our own soil. I think we are getting a pretty good picture of how our own government would react in a similar situation. I can see our leaders and the nuclear industry downplaying a disaster, dispensing false information and perhaps, even downright lying, in order to avoid panic. As I follow these events in Japan, I get a vision of what would happen here. It's not to hard of a stretch to imagine the chaos and the breakdown of our own society, in a major catastrophe like the one in Japan. All you need to consider is the type of behavior we exhibit when there is pending snowstorm or an event like Hurricane Katrina.

Perhaps it might be a good time to arm oneself and stockpile the food and water just in case.

(1) I can't figure out how any sane caring American can be in favor of continuing our uncontrolled spending. Of course the key words here are "sane" and "caring." If we break down our disagreements on issues to simply, "common sense" solutions, then this one is a no-brainer.
(2) Why is it that some of the worst kind of people we know, also claim to be the most religious? They show up in church every Sunday appearing very pious, then drive home flipping off someone who drives too slowly.
(3) What does it say about our country when people like Charlie Sheen are honored and held in high regard, while those that die for their country are forgotten?
(4) Is it possible to walk in any public area for more than 60 seconds and not see someone walking and talking on a cell phone?
(4) What are the chances that the first ten minutes of the local evening news won't be filled with stories of the crimes committed by blacks? This trend is quite sickening and yet if someone points it out then they must be racist. It would really help stop a lot of the stereotyping if this crap would stop already.
(5) How long till our government realizes the War on Drugs is killing more people than the drugs themselves and consider legalizing them?
(6) I'm hopeful the events in Japan don't spell the death knell for nuclear energy. It will most certainly be under attack now more than ever. If anything the world should come out of this mess, more aware of how better to secure these facilities and prevent what is happening in Japan today, from ever happening again.

Nothing invokes controversy like the topic of Abortion. The two opposing sides have been battling over this issue for decades. The battle really heated up when the Supreme Court upheld the right to abortion in the the Roe vs Wade Decision. The vitriol and rhetoric that spewed from both sides shows no sign of lessening, even after nearly 40 years. On the surface it doesn't appear that there will ever be universal agreement on what is the correct path when dealing with this hot button issue.
Understanding that, perhaps we should turn our focus to stopping the pregnancy BEFORE it occurs. There is no question this has been difficult up to this point but, perhaps it's time to really develop a strategy to work this angle with our full efforts. Trying to get through to young people regarding pregnancy prevention is a challenge but, it's worth pursuing. Teaching young men to control their urges and promoting alternatives to their "intercourse at the drop of a hat," mentality may very well be an uphill struggle but, no more challenging than trying to teach the young ladies to keep their legs together and to stop feeling the way to "get" that boy they are after is to allow themselves to be "violated."
We as a society need to place a tremendous amount of renewed emphasis on stopping abortion by stopping the first step in the process and not the last.

HOW DO THEY DO THAT?

In looking at the situation in Libya and how the rebels are able to respond so well against the trained and established military, it makes me wonder how they do it. Did you notice the strong resistance to the Libyan Army being put up by these "rebels?"
When I hear the term rebels it makes me think of someone who was baking bread yesterday or working in the factory, then, by some sort of miraculous turn of events, is now beating back the forces of the career soldiers of the army. What I don't get either, is where do they suddenly get all the guns, rockets and camo, we see on the news and in photographs? It's like they had this stuff up in the attic and ran up to get it when the shit started hitting the fan. Not only that, they are better at using it than the army. Go figure! I love that they all appear to have guns and endless ammunition to shoot into the air but, they can't grow a fricken tomato to feed themselves and we are supposed to pity them for being hungry. The solution would be simple. Put down your guns and go find a hoe and some seeds and work on feeding yourself and your family. Make that your priority instead of jumping around in the streets, waving your fists and firing off your machine guns.
Anyway, for the most part, war and violence is all these people understand. For them it is a way of life and something that is passed on from one generation to the next. This is why they are so hard to defeat. They don't think in terms of, "I'm going to defeat you." They think in terms of, "My grandson will defeat your grandson." It's all long term for them. They have the great advantage of patience. That is a concept we Americans no longer understand. Our "push button" mentality has trained us that results should occur in days or weeks or sometimes months but, certainly not years or even decades. If we are defeated it will most likely be a result of our lack of patience and ability to complete a task in the long term.

UNION GOONS WILLING TO DESTROY AMERICA TO MAINTAIN STATUS QUO

Events unfolding in Wisconsin prove beyond a shadow of a doubt that the union hierarchy is more interested in maintaining the status quo so they can keep drinking at the public trough. It doesn't matter to these clowns that the states are broke and we are continually asking government to spend money it doesn't have. The result of this destructive path is to bankrupt our children and grandchildren. I guess the Unionistas in Wisconsin and those they are shipping in really don't care much about the future of this country and of their own sons and daughters.
The best part is nobody is seeking to ban unions or even (in the case of Wisconsin) stop them from bargaining for wages. The Wisconsin Governor is being realistic and along with the majority of legislators realizes that they have no money to continue to pay out all the demands to please the unions and their leadership.
The path we are on in America right now is very dangerous. Our country is slowly fragmenting and is losing its identity. The selfish and self serving behavior of those in Wisconsin who are union supporters, will only hasten the pace at which we will all fall into the abyss.

STOP WITH THE PRO DEMOCRACY CRAP

It's time for the media to stop referring to all the opposition movements in Egypt, Libya etc., as "pro-democracy" movements. They are NOT pro democracy movements because those protesting don't know what democracy is in the first place. How can you be said to be protesting "for" something when you have no idea what it is? It also leads to the assumption that as soon as the dictators are ousted, democracy will be put in operation that same day. We have been working on democracy for over 200 years and the chaos in our own country proves that we haven't yet figured it out entirely. As the media continues to use this incorrect description of events in the Middle East, it only serves to further confuse our own, somewhat uninformed, people, and works to create false expectations and false hopes, that may cause us to lower our guard. We should not forget that many of the people in that region hate us and wish us harm. Don't ever think that they will somehow adopt democracy and become like us in any way.
Perhaps, the term "pro-change" movement is better. That at least accounts for the reality that we don't really know what is going to take hold in these countries. Maybe it will be a form of democracy, some day, but, certainly not immediately. The uneducated masses in Egypt, Libya and the rest of the Middle Eastern countries currently experiencing upheaval, wouldn't know democracy if it jumped up and slapped them in the face. It's time for the media to stop using terminology that is inaccurate at best, and confusing at the least.

HOW LONG TILL THE GOVERNMENT SHOOTS AT US: OKLAHOMA CITY REDUX

Seeing all the protests in the ME and the fact that some governments over there are firing on their citizens, it got me to thinking about how long it would be until that sort of thing happens over here. We do have a precedent you know. It was called, Kent State. So there goes the excuse that it can't happen.
Sometimes I get to wondering if McVeigh and Koresh might have been on to something. Not condoning their actions but, the lack of trust they had in the government. That for sure seems to be spreading. The only thing keeping more of it from happening is that most of those protesting (like folks in the Tea Party) are decent, law abiding citizens. With the rate and level of anger going on in America right now, we are lucky there haven't been a dozen Oklahoma Cities.

WHY PUBLIC SCHOOLS ARE SET UP TO FAIL

Over the past 25 years or so a great many changes have taken place in America's Public Schools and many of those changes are not for the better. U.S. students are falling further and further behind their counterparts around the world in almost every subject.
The sad thing in looking at this mess (beside the fact that it is happening) is how much time Americans spend in talking about why the problem is happening and in scratching their heads in trying to explain it.   It's as if people expect there to be some sort of deep and profound reasons for the failures of the American Education System, when in reality, the reasons are rather simple and in fact obvious. Sometimes I think part of the denial process includes this desire to find some complicated and complex reasons for what is going on, instead of just opening one's eyes wide enough to see the truth before us. I have a few thoughts on what these obvious and commonsense reasons are and will discuss them below in no particular order.
     First, the eroding of discipline in schools and in society in general. We have created a system where people are not responsible for their actions. Many times student misbehavior, instead of being punished, is treated by coddling the student or by trying to constantly rewarding them or in a worst case scenario like "time out." In many cases a constantly misbehaving student is given the designation of "special needs'" student. Once given this designation is nearly impossible to rescind and immediately covers the student with a blanket of protection, known as "The American with Disabilities Act," which makes them nearly impossible to discipline effectively. For example a Special Education student can only be suspended a total of ten days in any given school year, regardless of how many incidents the student may have. In some cases no behavior short of murder can be punished effectively, if it can be shown that the misbehavior is related to the students disability. They are in essence, "bullet proof."
     Secondly, the general laziness and lack of caring by many students goes a long way in explaining why so many are failing and are content with being average, doing the minimum or just plain happy to be stupid. When you train kids that somebody will always bail them out of a jam or that the learning they are supposed to be doing is not important, or that the government will provide for them, you are sowing the seeds of failure. Somehow over the past 25 years it has become less important to study and learn. This is ingrained in students today in many ways in what they see and hear at home and on TV and out in society. Don't worry about failing the math class, or that science class, you'll never need that stuff anyway. All you have to do is have a couple of kids, and the government will send you the check then, maybe have a few more and get even more money.    We have slowly and methodically ingrained this mentality into many of our youth and the results are devastating to our nation. We have a generation that only cares about having a good time and not worrying about being responsible.
     Thirdly, the destruction of the family. This is really a big one as so many kids are living in single parent homes with no father figure or positive role models. Without the pressure to succeed that a strong family usually provides, so many students are just floating aimlessly about without any focus or direction. Many kids have lost that mentality that made us want to be better than our parents. The goal was to get a better education so you could achieve success beyond what your parents had. Now that is slowly going away
     Fourth, drugs and all the problems they cause in terms of addiction, crime and the rise of gangs are having a most dramatic effect of the poor outcomes in many U.S. schools. The thug culture of life on the streets and the buying and selling of drugs is very destructive and makes our situation dire.
     Another factor is the schools over reliance on test scores at the expense of actual education. Districts are forcing kids to learn how to take and pass specific state tests with less focus on getting an all encompassing education. Basic subjects are sacrificed in order to focus attention on subjects that are on the tests.
     We need to face these and numerous other sad truths if we are to understand why America's schools are failing so miserably. This appears to be an un-fixable problem. Our society is sliding ever more rapidly down the rabbit hole with no end in sight.

NFL GREED ON DISPLAY IN SUPER BOWL

No matter how many billions the NFL makes, it appears it is never going to be enough. The latest display is the mess at the Super Bowl in which the NFL tried to squeeze in a few thousand seats into Jerry Jones Cowboy Stadium by adding temporary seating. Now keep in mind these "junk seats" were sold at $800 a pop but, the league's dream of a few extra bucks were dashed by the local Fire Marshal, when he refused to grant a temporary permit for the added seating due to safety code violations.
Now imagine the anger and frustration of the poor folks who traveled hundreds, if not thousands of miles to the game, in lousy weather, only to find they had no seat and would be forced to watch the game on TV.
What a disgrace! Your billions aren't enough for you Mr Goodell? You need to squeeze in a couple thousand more seats into a stadium that already holds a hundred thousand? Dumb ass!
The league solution is to give those folks triple their money back for the tickets but, when you count in travel expenses, time, effort and all the other costs, it won't come close to being fair compensation. My suggestion (other than stop the greedy behavior that lead to this in the first place) is to give the people triple their money back AND an additional $7500 for their pain and suffering. What a debacle the whole event was. From the butchering of the national anthem by that ditzy blond Cyndi Lauper clone, Christina Agulira, to the poor quality halftime show, it was one of the worst Super Bowls ever.

IN HONOR OF BLACK HISTORY MONTH---WHAT IS AN AFRICAN AMERICAN?

Probably the dumbest description of a black person in America is to refer to them as an African American.
In my estimation calling someone an African American refers much more to their national background than their skin color. It's true that f you come from an African Nation and you are black then you could be an African American. However, on the other hand, it is possible to come from an African nation and be white yet, still be an African American. Now I know that this is what really irritates some of the American Black Folks. They don't want to share this special designation with anyone else regardless of the validity of the issue.
Let's say for shits and giggles you come from Egypt to the US and become a citizen. You are not black but, white, aren't you still technically an "African American." Now I know it pisses off some people to hear an Egyptian American referred to as an African American. That kind of thinking just strengthens the argument of those who say that US Blacks are more racist than any would be willing to admit. I've seen this discussion really piss off some black leaders.
It's advantageous for black Americans to be the only ones referred to as "African Americans" because it gives them an identity they can share with others of the same color, whether or not they come from Africa. They are protective to the point of anger of this sweet little scam they have going and don't want to see it hijacked by a non-black individual. It's important to keep in mind that not blacks are Africans and not all Africans are black.
Also, I don't get the thing with these names that American blacks have been coming up with. I'm sorry but naming your kid Cheniqua or Chantrell, Sashaya or Levon only proves how lame your thinking is regarding you being an "African American." These are simply not names that have any connection or relation to Africa. If you really were hip with your roots you would be naming your kids Abena, Abeke or even Anum.
Finally, isn't it safe to assume that if pride yourself in being of African decent and having this history that runs back to the evil days of the slave trade, you might actually know something about Africa? Next time your "African American" buddy gets on his soapbox about his roots, ask him a couple of questions about his so called homeland. I'd bet dollars to donuts you'll get a quizzical look and he won't be buying your next drink.

SARAH PALIN IS NOT THE ANSWER

Now I'm not saying this woman isn't cool in a lot of ways. Her charm, folksy style and speaking ability put her ahead of many entrenched politicians in D.C. right now.
All that aside, the question of being able to lead the country well, is another story. Now I understand she has become a rallying point for the Tea Party Conservatives and others in the Republican Party but again, that in itself is not tantamount to being a great leader, and lord knows after Obama gets done wrecking things, only a truly great leader can try to put things right. In my humble opinion Palin wouldn't fit the bill.
It is ignorant to gripe about Obama's lack of experience then, turn around and claim Palin, a small town mayor and two year governor, has enough to qualify her. We can like Palin, the way she speaks out, her perceived fearlessness and even her charm but as of now I think she may have another role to play.
As to my choice, I don't have a specific name in mind but I do have a few parameters of what a good candidate would be.
First, I believe military experience is essential. Having leadership experience provides a person with an excellent "world view" an ability to make difficult life and death decisions and the good judgment of knowing when to use restraint and when to engage. Another advantage to a former military leader as Chief Executive is the subtle message it sends to other world leaders, especially our enemies. They will know by default that they are dealing with a no-nonsense, no screwing around, person who will follow through. Now of course, I'm talking about an Eisenhower type of military leader and not a Carter type.
Secondly, I think it has to be a man. It doesn't matter the color. Sorry, I know it isn't PC but, we can't think about how we in America look at it, or how it makes us 'Feel Good" about ourselves. (And if you are truthful, you know all this PC BS over the last 25 years has gotten us in this trouble already) We have to look at the perceptions of our enemies and those that wish us harm. Going toe to toe with Iran and North Korea, with a woman President (which they would never respect or fear) is like having Obama in there. A leader that commands the respect and fear of the crazies out there running other countries is in our best interest.
Finally, it would be icing on the cake if this person also had some previous governmental leadership experience, perhaps as a governor or big city mayor. Having experience in anything never hurts and it would be useful in a person's vision to have inside experience in how the system operates.
So there you have it: military experience, male and having an established political background would make for a truly great leader.

Where else but in the good old "sue happy" USA would an idiot walk while texting into a mall fountain, then turn around and try to sue the mall for her stupidity. Look lady, you are a fool and we are all laughing at you but nobody would have know who you were. You now chose to come in front of the camera to say you are going to sue the mall because the security people are laughing at you. Who wouldn't laugh at someone who was so focused on her texting that she walked right into a fountain. Get over it, it was funny but, to become an ass and try to sue somebody for your embarrassment, just makes you look the bigger fool.
We've all done things that made other laugh at us but, the smart folks join in to laugh at themselves too. In this way people are laughing with you instead of against you. Consider yourself lucky you weren't at the train station or subway platform. Grow up and for God sakes get you head up from your phone when you are moving around. Grow up!

HEADING TOWARD OBLIVION

With all the reckless spending and debt our politicians are amassing for us, it's pretty clear we are headed for the abyss. It really wouldn't be a stretch to say that all of them should be arrested and charged with treason.
Think of it, we have survived so much in the 20th Century, wars, earthquakes, diseases and the like but, we will most likely be brought to our knees internally, by the very people that should be doing everything to protect us. Our political system has become so corrupted that it is unable to stop itself from destroying us. Apparently, the career politicians, in an effort to save their own positions, are willing to sacrifice the nation in order to maintain their own corrupt fiefdoms.
Now I'm not saying that any of them are taking up arms to destroy America directly, rather, I'm saying that their policies and actions have put into place a system that is collapsing in on itself.   It's just a matter of time before the whole thing comes crashing down and we are in anarchy, fighting each other in the streets for necessities. Tic Toc Tic Toc!

SHOOTING FOR TROUBLE IN ARIZONA

No great surprise that after the shootings in Tuscon Arizona, idiots from the left, who conveniently forget all the vitriolic rhetoric from so many of their own talking heads, pundits and politicians, are trying to politicize the incident by blaming everyone from Sarah Palin to Rush Limbaugh for the actions of a deranged lunatic.
My feeling is anyone who spends a lot of time and energy trying to battle these dolts by using facts and examples is wasting their effort. You can't deal rationally with these people because they don't acknowledge that facts are relevant, they have an agenda that naturally opposes American Values and Traditions and they have no desire to engage in rational discussion or problem solving.
Their basic goal is the destruction of America in a multitude of ways, from tearing down the family to promoting the erosion of our nation's values and traditions.

SISTERS GET OUT OF JAIL FREE CARD

I'm watching the news this evening and I see these two sisters who were released from prison in Mississippi on the condition that one donates a kidney to the other. My point is not to get into the reason they were in prison (some say the punishment was too harsh) or even the benefits of transplantation. I don't even care that the Governor of Mississippi stated that he didn't want the taxpayers to deal with the burden of continually caring for these two. My real interest is that I'm wondering how these two women (or anyone for that matter) can spend 16 years in the prison system, where one could assume, their lives were tightly controlled 24 hours a day, COULD BE SO DAMN FAT? How in the hell does our prison system, which feeds these people, allow them to be continually obese for all these years? I think it's damn ridiculous that we have these kinds of people incarcerated all that time and no one helps them diet. Shouldn't the prisons be able to control the intake of food of its prisoners? If we can't help them any other way, we should be helping them get in some kind of physical condition. It is a disgrace for all involved to allow these people to eat and eat without control. There is no excuse to allow 300 pound prisoners coming out of prison after spending sixteen years behind bars.
Where are all the health nuts and those who are so concerned with our nation's obesity epidemic?

RANDOM THOUGHTS (NUMBER THREE)

     There are many things that happen in our world that just don't make any sense. A lot of times we really don't pay much attention to these things and go on with them as if nothing is wrong.   I've been trying to pay closer attention to this stuff lately and have noticed a few of these. Allow me share below.
     I've been trying to figure out if abortion is not murder and women get these all the time, why is it then that when a person kills a pregnant woman, he or she is charged with two murders. I'd really like an explanation for that one. Woman ends her pregnancy, effectively killing the fetus, it's OK. Guy shoots and kills his pregnant girlfriend, effectively killing the fetus, double murder charge.
     Secondly, how is it that we always consider people guilty based on an accusation with no apparent proof. A woman tells police a guy pushed her, guy gets arrested and charged. At this point, it doesn't matter if he is cleared later. In the eyes of most he is already guilty and is treated as such. The guy has to prove he didn't do it. I didn't think our wonderful system of Constitutional protections was supposed to work like that.   Which brings me to another one. Did you ever notice how the newspapers and television will run the story of the guy being accused on the front page or at the top of the news but, when he clears his name days, weeks or months later, it's never reported at all or at best ends up at the bottom of page ten in the paper. It really doesn't seem fair does it?
   Why is it that during the holiday season people who don't speak to you all year on the street suddenly want to talk? I've always felt if you don't want to speak to me all year, why do want to talk to me now. There's nothing worse to me than a phony.
     How much worse is it going to get with political ads? It's gotten to the point that I dread the campaign season. Countless mailings, phone calls and the awful repetitive ads on television in which the candidates no longer tell us what they will do but, are more interested in bashing the opponent. The negativism has pretty much come to represent the corruptness of our major political parties and the goons that run them.

Regardless of where you stand on the issues in the news ,I feel pretty confident in saying that there are certain groups and individuals in this country that are doing everything they can to destroy it. Whether they be Hollywood Celebrities, network anchors, educators or individuals like Jesse Jackson, Al Sharpton or crooked politicians, in my opinion, there is a movement afoot to wreck our country. This is being done over a long period of time by destroying the concept of family, instilling an attitude that there is no wrong and that everything is acceptable, forcing us to accept lifestyles we don't agree with, creating massive debt or continually pitting the races against each other. As we continue down this path we will see more and more similarities with the end of the Roman Empire. The difference will be that we have seen it coming and have had a long period of warning but, the commonality is that both will have ended with the same result. It is only a matter of time.

Organized religions have been and continue to be the most damaging things to life on this planet.
More damage and destruction have been perpetrated on humankind in the name of God and Religion than in all the plagues, catastrophes and wars combined. The destructive forces of Islamic Militancy are just the most recent manifestation of this devotion to blind faith and allegiance to one's religion. The shear hippocracy of appearing in a place of worship to pray to one's God then, leaving the site to go out and kill or maim someone else, is astounding.
Truth be told, this has been going on for thousands of years dating back to the Egyptians, Romans, Greeks, and all the rest of "civilized men." It will continue unabated until people come to the realization that they are merely tools of these religions and the zealots who practice them. Even people like Thomas Jefferson were leery of the effects of religion on men.

STUDY SHOWS PARENTS TO BLAME FOR KIDS LOUSY EDUCATION

News that can best be categorized as coming from the "duh" department indicates that a majority of Americans believe that the failures of education are the fault of parents and not teachers and administrators. Well now, there is an interesting one for you. It took years and a costly study to come to that conclusion, when I or most people with their eyes open and an ounce or two of common sense, could have figured that out for free in about, OH fifteen minutes. As so many of today's students are not very motivated or really care all that much for learning, how hard would it have been to see that it has much more to do with their home life and how their parents are (not) preparing them for school. In speaking to many elementary teachers, I am appalled to hear that a lot of kids are starting school now without knowing their alphabet or their basic numbers. It really makes me wonder what is going on in the home. Evidently, not very much. There is obviously a fundamental problem in American Society and to simply lay all the blame on the school is completely inaccurate. Like so many aspects of our decaying society and culture, public education is in a great state of decline, with no end in sight. This is why the increased spending of tax dollars is fruitless. Without a major about face in how our families function we are doomed.

KDKA AND ITS HANG UP WITH WEATHER

Once again the 11 o'clock news on KDKA begins with the weather. All these morons know is to continually try to make some cold weather and a dusting of expected snow, into a major news story. Basically, they continue to try to frighten people with this crap. What does it say about your news when you continually begin with the weather. The producer or whomever makes these decisions is an idiot. The other two local stations do the same thing sometimes but, nobody does it as often as KDKA.
This along with their penchant for showing abused animals shows how desperate this station is to try to create some news even when there isn't anything to report. It would be nice if they had someone of intelligence to actually select true newsworthy stories to put on the air instead of the made up fluff and nonsense they show all too often.
Unless it is a major catastrophic storm of some kind then weather is NOT news.

EVALUATING PITTSBURGH'S WEATHERMEN (PERSONS)

It must be me but, the local TV Weathermen/persons are really getting on my nerves. I try to watch just to find out the next day's forecast but I really can't stand them any more. With one exception they all have some quirks that drive me crazy.
First, KDKA's resident narcissist Jeff Verszyla drives me crazy with this periodic eye bulges, staccato delivery and form fitting shirts. If ever someone appears to be in love with himself, it's Jeffy.
Then there is that happy go lucky, bumbling Jon Burnett. This guy has the biggest bags under his eyes of anyone on local TV. I like to refer to him as "Bobbin Jon" because when he does the weather, he bobs around the set constantly, leaning left, leaning right then even leaning toward the camera. WTAE's Stephan Cropper is probably the one I can tolerate the best. He doesn't appear to have any major quirks that get under my skin. He appears to be a sincere, nice guy and generally, tends to keep it simple. His one drawback may be he lacks pizazz and for all intents and purposes is about exciting as a washrag.
Finally, WPXI's Julie Bologna. First of all, he name. You've got to be kidding right? Seriously, what kind of goof keeps a name like that for TV. Geez, what about Julie Blaine, or Julie Boone or even Julie Bond. But Bologna, give me a break. Where I come from Bologna is another word for Jumbo. Yeah, the lunch meat! Secondly that face. When I tune in for the weather I don't want to be frightened. But, in trying to watch this chick and not think she reminds me of someone that Mike Tyson beat on for 12 rounds. Truly a butter face. Yes, everything is hot "but her face."
Now when I add in all these things with the fact that when you really need these saps to come through with an accurate forecast when it's need the most, it's now wonder I tune in to the radio or the Internet for my weather forecast.
